The Mission

CORE’s mission is to create a more inclusive outdoor industry by fostering participation, progression, and belonging through outdoor sports, with a primary focus on empowering underrepresented youth.

What We DO

There Are Two Sides of CORE

We produce events, build partnerships, and collaborate with community organizations to create meaningful outdoor opportunities for underrepresented youth, combining funding with the reach, resources, and relationships needed to deepen impact.

We partner with outdoor and action sports brands to collaboratively develop affordable and sustainable products that promote the importance of lowering the cost and entry barriers to outdoor spaces.

How it Works

We Host Events

CORE creates events that make snowsports, outdoor culture, and community participation feel open and approachable.

People Show Up

Participants, volunteers, athletes, brands, and local partners come together to create welcoming experiences that expose participants to the culture and the industry.

Together We Grow The Impact

Money raised helps support our work and that of our nonprofit partners, furthering community causes, future programming, and the infrastructure needed to continue creating opportunities.

Meet the

founder

Professional snowboarder Erik Leon founded CORE from a belief shaped by his own path into snowboarding.

Growing up in Riverside, California, Erik didn’t have easy access to the mountains but found his way into action sports through skateboarding and BMX. When he eventually made it to Bear Mountain, snowboarding gave him a new sense of progression and belonging.

CORE began with Erik putting his own resources and relationships behind the kind of access he wished more people had. Today, it’s a registered 501c3 nonprofit built to help people find community through snowsports and the outdoors.
